Vintage Montague 9′ FISHKILL Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod (NEAR MINT)
Vintage Montague 9' FISHKILL Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod (NEAR MINT)
Up for your consideration is a Montague 9' FISHKILL fly rod in exceptional condition for it's age. This came out of my father's estate in the 70's and has been stored in my basement in it's fiberboard case since. I never remember him using it and in fact I did not know it existed. I'm auctioning the rod as a (3) piece since the extra tip is obviously not original but could be re-wrapped to match. The rod may never had more than the three pieces since the cloth sleeve only has three divisions. The cork is in great shape as are all the guides, wrappings, bamboo, and varnish. This rod and the cloth sleeve are in near mint condition, but the fiber case (and I'm not sure if it's the correct case) has a bad area but is still functional. The butt section measures 36 3/8", the second section measures 36 7/16", the correct tip measures 36 1/4", and the extra tip measures 36 5/8". There is no other writing on the rod so I'm not sure of the line weight it should throw. Check out the pictures. Please ask questions if I omitted something important.
